Survey Savvy

Matt here!
First things first, my scanner is broken and I currently do not have a digital camera so... proof of Opinion Outpost's payment will not be posted. Plus i kind of want to cash it already ;).

Today's topic is on Survey Savvy
This site is one that i have never heard any bad reviews. They offer a decent amount of surveys, 1 to 2 a week, and pay promptly and on time. Their surveys are also very fun and quite interesting. If you honestly enjoy giving your opinions (and getting paid for them), you will love survey savvy!

This site comes as highly recommended as they are very honest and have top rate customer service. The surveys are, as usual, low-paying ranging from 50 cents to 3 dollars a survey.

Opinion Outpost 10/10!

Matt here!
So I finally got my check today from Opinion Outpost. This is indeed, one of the better online survey sites out there IF you don't mind only 1-2 surveys a week. Every now and then, a survey worth 20+ dollars will pop up. I've so far earned a total of $25.50 from this site in a little under a month. One of the surveys I took was worth about 21 dollars. The rest were only 1 to 2 dollar ones but were quite fun to take. I actually got around 3 survey invitations from them this week!

All in all, I give Opinion outpost a 10/10. Payment was made on time through a check that I will get a picture of on my next post. I'm writing this review from my office (in my free time of course!) so I do not have a scanner or digital camera on me at this moment.

The amount of surveys given is really quite decent actually. It may take them a long time to actually organize your profiles and start sending you surveys. Once they start sending surveys, however, they're usually consistent. Customer service is also excellent! They are a real pleasure to work with!

Today I signed up for about 6 more online survey companies. All of them are BBB accredited with a satisfactory or exemplary rating. Plus I have heard nothing but good reviews from their panalists. When I get the chance to I'll post their links in the Paid surveys section to your right.

Things to remember...

Hello!
Today, I think, would be a great time to discuss some of the basic rules when searching for ways to generate revenue online. Alas, a post such as this is needed for myself since i find myself breaking my own rules too many times. This may be a moderately long post since there is much to discuss. I probably won't get to cover all the important stuff in one post. No harm in trying.

These are very basic rules that everyone should know and follow in order to keep their internet experience a happy one. It's one thing to lose money over a stupid purchase (like what happened in my last post and has happened to me before). It's a whole another thing to get yourself involved in some really dangerous stuff such as getting your identity stolen and having your bank account hacked. I've compiled this list of rules mainly for myself to keep out of deep kim-chee. So far it has helped and I have yet to be the victim of identity theft... yet O_O.

To be honest, I am paranoid about these things. Everyone should be. As I said before, there are a lot of scams out there! Unlike people like you and me, there are people out there who have no problem with scamming money out of your pockets! There are some who have no problem with ruining your entire life just for the fun of it! I have a story or two i'd like to share here later when i get the chance. For now, back to topic!

My first rule: Always be cautious
Simple really. Never trust any of the sites out there, especially the paid survey (PS) and data entry (DE) sites. As far as i can tell, there are NO legitimate DE sites out there. There are many many legitimate ps sites-- but five times as many illegitimate scam sites. Even if a site seems safe doesn't make it so. Take the time and do the research on the company you plan on signing up for. A very useful tool on finding out whether the companies you sign up for are ethically sound is the Better Business Bureau website. You can find the company by searching for them on their site here. If BBB is not satisfied with them, they are most likely scams. This should be your first tool and resource in evaluating a company you sign up for.

My second rule: Always be skeptical
Never trust anyone on the web! Did i say that enough?
Trust is good. I understand that it is impossible to go through life without trusting people. There is, however, a problem once you put the net into the picture. There is no person-to-person communication. The reason scammers can sleep at night is because they never see you. They don't know who you are. They don't even care since, to them, all you are is a screen-name and a blip on their computer screens.
Besides the BBB site, two VERY useful sources on evaluating money generating sites are blogs and forums. Still, be cautious, as many of the survey companies pay people to post good things about them. Most of the blogs and forums, however, are made up of real people who have already experienced the system you want to get into. I, personally, like to use blogsearch.com and technorati.com. Many online article sites such as Helium also provide useful information if you want real reviews by real people.

My third rule: NEVER ever ever ever give away personal information.
Social Security, Drivers license numbers, bank account numbers, passwords, etc. should never be shared! If part of the sign up process requires you to input your tax payer id (SSN), make sure that with an absolute certainty... without a DOUBT... that the company you're giving that information to is legitimate and has satisfactory privacy and payment policies.

Also, it's just not smart to use a primary email address for surveys. I get 300+ emails a day for my PS email account alone, 280 of which are purely spam from these sites. It's best to just set up a proxy account on hotmail or gmail, which ever you prefer. In fact... it's necessary! ESPECIALLY if you host your own email server ;).

My fourth rule: Pay attention to policies!
Paying attention to the privacy and payment policies could be the difference between signing up for a scam site and signing up for a legitimate one. Legitimate sites will always have the following stated in one form or another. I like to call these rules the golden three:
1. They will promise not to sell or give your information to anyone or coorperation. Except paid survey sites. They will give your basic DEMOGRAPHIC information to research sites in order to get you some more paid surveys. They will state that they do so, if they don't, run away.
2. They will never give ANY personal information (SSN, bank accounts, etc)... period.
3. They will promise to pay you at the correct times or as you request
4. They promise not to use your email address for anything other than for the necessary communication

This post is getting a bit long so i will probably check back later to add another post to this. I'd like to end on a note about Paid Survey sites

PS sites will NEVER require you to pay anything in order to sign up. They are ALWAYS free. Period. If they charge money to join them, they are scams!

Maximumpaidsurveys.com (Scam alert!)

Matt here!

Well, there isn't really a scam alert. More like a "pay attention to what you're paying for" alert. As a disclaimer, I was always curious about Maximumpaidsurvey.com since the day I started doing my research on paid online surveys a few months ago. It always seemed so legitimate! I should have paid attention to the rating it received from the Better Business Bureau. It got an “unsatisfactory” score, but only because they refused to refund someone. All it had was one single complaint and I assumed that it would be more honest than it actually was. (Shame on me!)

This would be a really great time to mention that BBB (Better Business Bureau) should be your main resource for evaluating sites before you sign up to them. I will do a post later on what to watch out for when searching for online money making opportunities. Always be cautious, always be skeptical, and always make sure that the sites you sign up for are legitimate. Also, you will always read me saying this: NEVER give away your personal information without being satisfied that the company you’re signing up for has a detailed privacy policy! NEVER. EVER.

I signed up for Maximumpaidsurveys.com today. It cost 40 dollars and is worth maybe 2. The site is simple... a 10 year old could have made it. All it consists of is a giant database of survey companies and mystery shopping companies. Standard rules apply in that all the sites listed require you to apply for them. Same-old tedious job of filling out form after form.

I will say that the site does have some moderately useful resources (about 3-ebooks on affiliate marketing, WAHM or work at home moms, and online auctioning) and the data bases ARE useful albeit not very well organized. Strangely though, some of the sites that is on the databases have been known to be scam sites. Not quite sure why MPS tries to pass themselves off as being legitimate while promoting these scam sites. I would exercise the same caution used when dealing with any online site that asks for some personal information. I would like to say that MMS is nothing like how it is being advertised. It is definitely not worth the 40 dollars spent to access this information which is all easily learned with a few hours of online research.

It’s important to realize that if you decide to sign up for this program you aren’t subscribing to anything. You’re merely buying access to a few data bases. It is possible to get referrals from this site. If you buy access, you can make about 26-27 dollars selling it to others. That, however, in my opinion would be scamming people hence I will REFUSE to post the referral links. As far as I’m concerned, this site is dishonest, deceiving, and misleading in that it does not offer the product it advertises.

On the bright side of things, I will use the resources to further my online survey research. I will try to bring the legitimate ones to you! So don’t worry, you don’t have to pay 40 dollars to access this crap. Till then, into the scam site category maximumpaidsurveys.com goes!

Disclaimer: I will not release any information that is exclusive to Maximumpaidsurveys.com.

"My Homepage Friends"

Matt here!

Today I'd like to talk to you about a very interesting program I came across while searching for ways to make money online. It's called My Homepage Friends. Basically, it's a site that pays you to do what you normally do online every day: search.

You can access it by clicking the logo above.

The only catch to this system is that you have to use their Yahoo Search Engine on the homepage you create after signing up for their program. However, the homepage they give you is similar to most other major search engine starter page like MyYahoo, or mygoogle etc. It's pretty much fully customizable with cute gadgets that you can choose to add. I personally added a digital clock and an ebay watch gadget :3. It's very entertaining.

The pay out isn't much. But you're getting paid basically to do nothing. It's one of the few legitimate data entry jobs out there! Just kidding...

The currency is the British pound. However, they pay through pay pal so it shouldn't matter much. You get paid about .01 pounds per search. Don't even think to try and abuse the program by searching over and over again! you'll get your account canceled and probably won't even find what you're looking for :).

The idea behind the program is rather simple: why not get paid for doing what you normally do? It sounds almost too good to be true, but according to them, everyone benefits off of arrangements such as this. I say, why not take advantage of it? I haven't yet verified that they actually pay yet. Judging from the reviews I've read and many of the forums that I've visited, they seem to be legitimate. I will check back on that statement once I receive payment... till then, they will remain in the unverified section.

Introduction

Hello!

Matt here! Since this is my first post I'd like to start by explaining the purpose of this blog. I created this blog with the specific purpose of creating an resource for those interested in earning a little bit of cash online. I am, however, not an expert on such things. I've only just begun playing around with several types cash generating ventures. A few have been successful. Others have been complete failures. On the bright side, the resources I will list have been tried and tested.

I hope to learn as time goes on as there is a lot of money on the internet to be made! At the same time, there is a lot of money to be lost as well. I had a friend who was recently scammed $10,000 in what they thought was a legitimate investing opportunity! There is a lot of scams out there and I hope to be a useful source on how to avoid them.

I am currently, at the time of this post, a sophomore at the University of Hawaii. I am majoring in MIS (Information Technology Managment) and Accounting where my goal is to focus on E-commerce and one day rule the world. Not literally, but I do hope to one day work from home, preferably by owning my own business... A multi-national cooperation would be nice too-- But I digress. This blog is for me to write about my little online business ventures.

Currently, being a newb (in the least offensive sense of the word), my focus will be primarily on Paid-Surveys, Ebay, and of course Blogging! I have a bit more experience with the first two in that list. When it comes to blogging however, I know NOTHING! The only thing I am currently aware of is that blogging is a great way to spread information, network, and slowly brainwash the public into following me. Just kidding! ;)

But on a serious note, when it comes to up keeping this blog I will be extremely grateful for feedback, comments, criticism, and advice!

The methods listed in this blog have, as I said earlier, mostly been tried. However, if there are instances where the program does not work as well for you as it did me, let me know.

That said, I am looking forward to many publications in the future!
